Adobe Photoshop Firefly Generative AI Arrives, But at a Cost

Adobe’s new generative AI tool, Firefly, is now available in Photoshop. Firefly allows users to create new images, edit existing images, and generate new content using AI. For example, Firefly can be used to add or remove objects from images, change the background of an image, or even generate new images from scratch.

Firefly is a powerful tool, but it comes with a price. Adobe is raising the price of Creative Cloud subscriptions in November, and Firefly is one of the reasons for the price hike. The new Creative Cloud subscription prices will be as follows:

  • Individual plan: $23 per month (up from $21 per month)
  • Student and teacher plan: $19.99 per month (up from $14.99 per month)
  • Teams plan: $31.99 per month (up from $29.99 per month)

In addition to raising the price of Creative Cloud subscriptions, Adobe is also introducing a new pricing tier for Firefly. Creative Cloud subscribers will receive a certain number of Firefly credits per month, depending on their subscription plan. For example, individual subscribers will receive 100 Firefly credits per month, while teams subscribers will receive 1,000 Firefly credits per month.

So, is Firefly worth the price? It depends on how much you use it and how much you value your time. If you are a professional creative who needs to create high-quality images quickly and efficiently, then Firefly can be a valuable tool. However, if you are a casual user who only needs to edit images occasionally, then Firefly may not be worth the price.

Firefly is a powerful tool with the potential to revolutionize the way that images are created and edited. However, it comes with a price. Creative Cloud subscribers will need to decide if Firefly is worth the extra cost.
